The Town Of Oak Island Is Currently Searching For An Accounting Manager. Oak Island Is A Family-friendly Coastal Community, With A Permanent Population Of Approximately 8000 (swelling To 45,000+ In The Summer Season) And 9 Miles Of Beautiful Beaches. The Position Of Accounting Manager Will Perform Governmental Accounting Tasks That Involve The Processing Of Financial Transactions In Accordance With GAAP And GASB, Including The Analysis, Classification, Review, And Reporting Of Financial Data With A High Level Of Accuracy. The Position Will Manage And Oversee The Process And Staff Of Accounting, Grants, Payroll, Accounts Receivable And Payable, Revenue Collections, Utility Billing/collections, Audit Preparation And Fixed Assets. Prepare, Review, And Post Journal Entries In The General Ledger System, To Ensure Accurate And Timely Reporting, Daily Review And Posting Of Receipt Deposit Batches, Monthly Reconciliation Of Bank Statements And Perform Fixed Asset Accounting, Including Recordation, Disposal, And Depreciation Of Assets. Other Responsibilities Include Financial Analysis, Problem Solving, And Support To Departmental Inquiries. Ability To Demonstrate Considerable Knowledge Of GAAP, GASB Statements, And North Carolina General Statutes. Ability To Demonstrate Considerable Knowledge Of Accounting Systems And Edmunds MCSJ Experience A Plus. The Preferred Candidate Will Possess A Bachelor’s Degree In Accounting; Or A Degree In Business Administration, Finance, Public Administration, Or A Related Discipline With 18 Semester Hours Of Accounting; And Three Years Of Governmental Accounting Experience; Or Equivalent Combination Of Education And Experience. Government Finance Experience Required, And NC Government Finance Officer Certification Preferred.
